Services

We only offer Mohs for basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, and sebaceous carcinomas at this time. We will be adding Mohs for melanoma in a few months and potentially adding CO2 laser treatment for superficial basal cells.

Once all of the skin cancer has been removed, Dr. Taylor will determine the best type of repair for your specific wound based on its location, how much tissue was removed, and your natural facial symmetry. Reconstruction options are always a collaborative discussion, and we will work together to determine which approach ensures the best cosmetic and functional healing for you.

  • Common types of repairs used in our clinic include:
    • Secondary Intention (Healing Naturally): Leaving the wound open to heal on its own without stitches. This method is most frequently recommended for wounds on the hands, lower legs, and feet, where it often yields the safest and most effective results.
    • Linear Closure (Side-to-Side): Closing the wound in a straight line using surgical sutures. This is the most common closure method and can be used on almost any area of the body.
    • Skin Flap: Shifting or rotating a portion of healthy, adjacent skin to cover the surgical site. This specialized technique is used primarily on the face to prevent a straight line from pulling on your eye, distorting your nose, or altering your natural facial features.
    • Skin Graft: Taking a small piece of healthy skin from another area of the body (a donor site) to cover the wound. For example, skin from the inside or back of the ear is often gently harvested to repair a wound on the nose or the rim of the ear.
