Nicholas A. Taylor, MD, PhD

Nicholas A. Taylor, MD, PhD is a dual board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon with specialized expertise in skin cancer treatment and cutaneous oncology. Originally from Williamsburg, Virginia, Dr. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, graduating with High Distinction, from the University of Virginia.

He went on to complete the prestigious dual MD/PhD program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was awarded a highly competitive National Institutes of Health (NIH) F31 research fellowship through the National Cancer Institute. His doctoral research focused on immunotherapy and the balance of inflammatory signals in cancer treatment, culminating in his dissertation, Balancing Pro- and Anti-Inflammatory Signals for Effective Immunotherapy in the Post-Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant and Solid Tumor Settings.

Following medical school, Dr. Taylor completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. He then pursued his dermatology residency at the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology at New York University, where he cared for patients at NYU Langone Health, the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.

Dr. Taylor further specialized by completing a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, under internationally recognized Mohs surgeons Dr. John Zitelli and Dr. David Brodland. During his fellowship, he developed extensive experience in the surgical management of melanoma and other complex skin cancers.

Passionate about advancing skin cancer care, Dr. Taylor’s clinical interests include non-melanoma skin cancer, melanoma, and the role of the immune system in fighting cancer. He is optimistic that continued advances in immunotherapy will transform the future of skin cancer treatment.

After completing his training, Dr. Taylor returned to North Carolina to be closer to family and enjoy the state’s warmer climate. Outside of the office, he enjoys running and staying active through running, tennis, basketball, and rugby. Most importantly, he values spending time with his wife and their two children.
